Turner, Kaney and Kesse Named to All-GSAC Team; Morton to the GSAC All-Freshman Team
Nov. 5, 2006
Zak Turner, Patrick Kaney and Kojo Cole-Kesse were announced to the All-GSAC Team by all conference coaches on Monday.
Turner, a senior defender, was responsible for two goals this season and several big team saves in his final year for the Panthers. He finishes his career as the only four-year All-GSAC player in the history of the program.
Kaney, a junior forward, was an intimidating forward, known for his scoring ability from deep range. He showed that against Emory and Henry, in which he took a 50/50 ball, dribbled across the field and shot from about 30-35 yards out into the back of the net to tie the game late in the contest. This is the third straight year that he garnered All-GSAC honors.
Cole-Kesse, also a junior forward, is a lighting quick player that can beat anyone with the ball and has an uncanny way of getting the ball past the goalkeeper. He displayed that this season in the first game of the season, scoring both goals in a 2-0 victory against Atlanta Chirstian College. An injury would prevent him from being as dominant, but his presence would cause teams to change their stradegy. He, along with Kaney, look to join Turner as the only four-year all-conference players in the history of the program.
Freshman midfielder, Wes Morton was named to the GSAC All-Conference Team. He completed a successful freshman year in which he had to learn and start right away. He was responsible for two goals and an assist for five points, including a goal and assist in the 3-2 overtime loss to Huntingdon, in which he had to step up without Kesse and Kaney. He will look to have a much bigger role next season.
