Panthers blank Atlanta Christian for first win of the season
Sept. 25, 2007

LaGrange College picked up its first win of the season, blanking Atlanta Christian 4-0 on Tuesday night. The Panthers (1-6) dominated the Chargers (0-12) from the outset of the game.

The Panthers held a 23-1 shot advantage in the game. Goalkeeper Ben Rollins had to make only one save to get his first shutout of the season. The Panthers held the Chargers without a shot in the second half.

The Panthers jumped out to an early 2-0 lead. Aristote Kamba scored his first goal of the season after taking a crossing pass from Rhett Fordham just five minutes into the game. Two minutes later, Fordham scored on a header off a pass from Wes Morton. It was Fordham's team-leading third goal of the season.

The Panthers took the lead into halftime. They quickly added to their lead in the opening minutes of the second half. Jamel Jackson fired in a shot from the top of the box after the Chargers turned the ball over. Like Kamba, it was Jackson's first goal of the season.

The Panthers closed out the scoring in the 84th minute. Jase Crenshaw became the third Panther to get his first goal of the season after taking a through ball from Steve Vitale for the 4-0 final score.

The Panthers host Maryville in a GSAC game Saturday. Kickoff is 7:30 p.m.
