Panthers win season opener Sept. 2, 2006 The LaGrange College men's soccer team started its season on a winning note, defeating Atlanta Christian College, 2-0 in East Point, Ga. on Saturday.
The Panthers' junior forward, Kojo Cole-Kesse, scored both goals. The first came at the 13 minute mark of the first half. He took a crossing pass from senior Cole Zimmerman and put a shot into the back left corner of the net to make the score 1-0.
Cole-Kesse scored again in the second half at the 69 minute mark off an assist from freshman midfielder Chase Montgomery. He beat his defender and his kick sailed into the low near post to give LC a 2-0 advantage. With the two goals, Cole-Kesse moves up to third all-time in points (48) and second in goals with 21.
Goalkeeper Jason Baker had two saves for the Panthers. LaGrange had 21 shots to Atlanta Christian's nine.
The Panthers begin their home schedule against Emory & Henry at Panther Field on Sunday at 1:30 p.m.
