Sept. 1, 2007

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – Host Warren Wilson spoiled LaGrange College's 2007 season opener with a 3-0 win on Saturday. The Owls evened their season record at 2-2.

The Panthers started eight freshmen in the game. Seniors Kojo Cole-Kesse, Ryan Snider and junior Stephen Vitale were the only upperclassmen for the Panthers in the starting lineup.

Warren Wilson led 2-0 at halftime. Max Bressor scored with 25:41 remaining in the half to give the Owls a 1-0 lead. With only four seconds left before halftime, Alex Babbit scored to put the Owls up 2-0 at the break.

The only score of the second half came on a penalty kick. Luke Bernard got the goal for the Owls with 18:55 left for the 3-0 final margin.

"We came out early and had some scoring chances," Coach Jeff Geeter said. "We made a mistake allowing a breakaway and then the goal late in the first half."

Warren Wilson finished the game with a 16-10 shot advantage. Freshman Ben Rollins, making his first collegiate start in goal for the Panthers, had five saves.

The Panthers travel to Virginia for the weekend. On Saturday, the Panthers face Emory & Henry in Emory, Va. and take on Averett on Sunday in Danville, Va.
