Panthers eighth after first round of Wynlakes Winter Nationals

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The LaGrange College golf team is in eighth place overall at the Wynlakes Winter Nationals tournament after the first round Monday. The Panthers shot a team total of 316 on the Wynlake Country Club course.

Darton Community College leads the 17-team field. The Panthers are third among the four-year schools in the tournament. Host Huntingdon College, ranked third in NCAA Division III, is tied for fourth overall and leads the Panthers by seven shots. Mississippi College and Hanover College are the only other NCAA Division III schools in the field.

Freddy Uribe was low scorer for the Panthers on Monday. He shot a three-over 75 and is tied for ninth in the individual standings. Uribe was four over after nine holes but recovered on the back nine with a one-under 35. Bo Tiller shot a 79, Anthony Yacovazzi and Ryan Willis each an 81 and Ryan Howard an 86 to round out the scoring for the Panthers.

The tournament concludes Tuesday. The Panthers host the Callaway Gardens Invitational next Monday and Tuesday, March 5-6.
