Panthers finish 11th at Chick-fil-A Collegiate Invitational

ROME, Ga. – The LaGrange College golf team finished 11th at the Chick-fil-A Collegiate Invitational that ended Tuesday at the Coosa Country Club. Southeastern (Fla.) won the two-day event edging host Berry by one shot.

The Panthers were one of only three NCAA Division III schools in the tournament. The Panthers finished only six shots behind seventh-place and fellow Division III member Birmingham-Southern. The University of the South was the third Division III school in the tournament.

 

Senior Ryan Willis led the Panthers with a two-day total of 148 over the par-72 course. Willis had the Panthers' low round in the tournament of 73 in the first round. Senior Anthony Yacovazzi and sophomore Adam Garrett each finished with 151 totals. The pair led the Panthers in the second round with two-over par 74s. Tony Kim (162) and Bo Tiller (165) rounded out the scoring for the Panthers.

 

The Panthers will compete at the Oglethorpe Invitational on Oct. 20-21 in Gainesville, Ga.
