Panthers move up a spot after third round of  NCAA championship

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. – LaGrange College moved up a spot at the NCAA Division III Golf Championship after Friday's third round. The Panthers are 13th after carding a team round total of 309 on the Dye course of the PGA Golf Course.

Methodist continued to lead the tournament. The nine-time champions hold a four-shot lead over Oglethorpe and a six-shot lead over second round leader LaVerne. The Panthers are nine shots behind 10th place Skidmore.

Sophomore Adam Garrett paced the Panthers in the third round. He shot a one-over par 73 to move up 13 spots in the individual standings to a tie for 13th. Garrett was three-over for his round after a double-bogey on 15. He finished the round with back-to-back birdies on 17 and 18 to get back to one-over.

Seniors Ryan Willis, Anthony Yacovazzi and Alex Elorriaga followed Garrett. Willis shot a five-over 76, Yacovazzi a seven-over 78 and Elorriaga an eight-over 80. Junior Bo Tiller rounded out the Panthers' scoring with an 89.

The Panthers finish the tournament Saturday. They begin teeing off at 8:20 a.m. on the Dye course.
