Panthers slip in NCAA championship standings after second round

BRASELTON, Ga. – LaGrange slipped in the standings at the NCAA Division III Men's Championship being played at the Chateau Elan Resort. The Panthers fell from eighth to 16th but made the team cut for the final two rounds.

Playing on the difficult Woodlands course Wednesday, the Panthers had only two golfers break 80. Alex Elorriaga led the Panthers with a five-over 76. Elorriaga's round included a birdie on the 18th hole. Ryan Willis followed with a seven-over 78. Willis started slow, but played the final 13 holes at only three-over par. Anthony Yacovazzi shot 81, Ryan Howard 84 and Bo Tiller 85.

The Panthers are only 10 shots behind 10th-place Huntingdon in the team standings. Willis is tied for 32nd in the individual standings. He is only five shots back of reaching the top 10 in the standings.

The final two rounds will be played on the Chateau course. The course is playing almost four shots easier than the Woodlands course.
