Panthers close spring season with fifth place finish at Emory Invitational April 8, 2008
LaGrange closed out its spring schedule with a fifth place finish at the Emory Invitational on Tuesday. The Panthers shot a final round 306 after a first round 305 at the Stone Mountain Park course.
The Panthers now wait on a possible bid to the NCAA Division III national championship tournament. The tournament will be held May 13-16 at Chateau Elan in Braselton, Ga. The Panthers have earned bids to the national tournament last year and in 2004.
Ryan Willis led the Panthers at Emory with rounds of 74-76 for a 150 total. He tied for 11th in the individual standings. Bo Tiller had a team tournament best round of 73 to finish at 152. Anthony Yacovazzi followed with rounds of 78-76 for a 154 total. Ryan Howard had rounds of 75-81 for a 156 total. Alex Elorriaga closed out the scoring for the Panthers with rounds of 78-81 for a 159 total.
The Panthers did not finish lower than seventh in five tournaments this spring. They had a season-best fourth place finish at the Callaway Collegiate Invitational.
