Panthers tied for seventh after first round at Rome News-Tribune Invitational March 10, 2008
ROME, Ga. - Led by Ryan Willis, LaGrange tied for seventh Monday after the first round of the Rome News-Tribune Invitational being held at the Stonebridge Country Club. Willis shot a one-under par 71 as the Panthers had a team score of 298.
The Panthers, along with Emory, Shenandoah and the University of the South are the only NCAA Division III schools in the 20-team field. The rest of the field is made up of NAIA schools, led by Lindenwood, who had a first round team score of 288 to lead Northwood by three shots.
Willis is tied for seventh in the individual standings. He trails Brock Robillard of Lindenwood and Southeastern's tandem of Matt Parziale and Graeme Nelson by three shots. One shot back of Willis is teammate Anthony Yacovazzi, who had an even-par round of 72. Rounding out the scoring for the Panthers was Bo Tiller at 76, Ryan Howard at 79 and Freddy Uribe at 86.
The tournament concludes Tuesday. The Panthers next tournament is the Jekyll Island Invitational on March 20-23.
