Panthers open spring season with fourth-place finish

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – LaGrange College opened its 2008 spring schedule with a fourth-place finish at the Wynlakes Wynter Nationals hosted by Huntingdon College. The two-day tournament was held at the par-72 Wynlakes Country Club.

The Panthers were in sixth place after a first-day score of 328. They had the low team score of 314 for the second round. Huntingdon won the tournament, followed by Faulkner, Georgia Southwestern and the Panthers.

Anthony Yacovazzi tied for seventh in the individual standings to lead the Panthers. He had rounds of 81-78 for a 159 total. Bo Tiller and Ryan Willis both tied for 10th with 160 totals. Tiller had rounds of 81-79, while Willis had rounds of 79-81. Ryan Howard shot the low round of the tournament for the Panthers. He had a second round score of 76 after a first round 87 for a 163 total. Alex Elorriaga had rounds of 88-86 for a 174 total.

The Panthers will play in the Callaway Collegiate Invitational on the Mountain View Course at Callaway Gardens. The tournament is Monday and Tuesday, March 3-4.
