Team player of the week awards announced

LaGrange College head football coach Todd Mooney announced the team players of the week the week ending Sept. 7. The players of the week are: Mario Wallace, offense; Devin Allison, defense; Jeremy Pickens, special teams; Gerald Reed, scout team offense and Kyle Sanders, scout team defense.

Wallace, a junior, had 278 all-purpose yards in the Panthers' win over Birmingham-Southern. He had a team-high 111 yards receiving, the first Panther to get over 100 yards receiving in a game. He also became the first Panther to return a punt for a touchdown, returning one 63 yards in the second quarter. Wallace had 80 yards and a touchdown on the ground.

Allison, a junior corner back, had four total tackles on defense. He had a key interception in the fourth quarter to stop a Birmingham-Southern scoring threat.

Pickens had the team's graded the highest on the Panthers' special teams. He recovered a fumble and had three total tackles.
