Team player of the week awards for Maryville game announced

LaGrange College head football coach Todd Mooney announced the team players of the week for the week ending Sept. 21. The players of the week are: Nick Langley, offense; Josh Britt, defense; Jeremy Pickens, special teams; Gerald Reed, scout team offense and Michael Forlaw, scout team defense.

Langley graded highest among the receivers. He had two receptions in the game and a touchdown. Langley's touchdown reception gave the Panthers a 31-7 halftime lead. Britt led the defense with six total tackles. He was credited with a sack, 1.5 tackles for loss and a forced fumble. Pickens is a player of the week for the third straight week and the second time on special teams. He returned a fumbled kickoff return 25 yards for a touchdown in the second quarter. It was the first ever return of a fumble for a touchdown by a Panther. Reed has earned his second scout team offense player of the week.
