Team player of the week awards for Westminster

LaGrange College head football coach Todd Mooney announced the team players of the week for the week ending Oct. 19. The players of the week are: Colt Shope, offense; George Okpani, defense; Josh Stripling, special teams; Nick Nelson, scout team offense and John McClain, scout team defense.

Shope had career-highs of 131 yards rushing and 87 yards receiving. He averaged 21.8 yards on six rushing attempts, including a long rush of 63 yards, and had one touchdown. He also set school records for longest pass reception (77 yards), longest touchdown reception (77 yards) and yards per reception (29.0 yards). Shope finished the game with a career-high 233 all-purpose yards.Okpani had three solo tackles from his defensive end position. Stripling was 3-for-3 in field goal attempts, including a long field goal of 42 yards. He was also 4-of-4 in PAT attempts, had eight kickoffs for a total of 510 yards, including four touchbacks.
