Football announces award winners May 27, 2008
LaGrange College's football program announced its end-of-the-year awards. The awards recognized individuals for the 2007 season.
Junior Erik Hardison was the recipient of the Phillip R. Williamson Award for excellence on and off the field. Freshman Ben Crumbley earned the Outstanding Academic Achievement Award with a 3.93 grade point average.
Junior linebacker Justin Pair was the Panthers' Defensive Player of the Year for the second straight year. Pair led the Panthers in total tackles with 79, including 44 solo. He led the team with 10.5 tackles for loss and 4.5 quarterback sacks. In addition, Pair recovered two fumbles and had an interception.
Sophomore running back Mario Wallace was the Panthers' Offensive Player of the Year. Wallace averaged 158.6 all-purpose yards per game, which ranked him 21st in NCAA Division III. He had 735 yard in kickoff returns last season. Wallace became the first Panther to return a kickoff for a touchdown with an 89-yard return against Shorter. He also led the team in punt returns with 163 yards and was second in rushing with 445 yards.
