LaGrange ends second season with loss to Kentucky Wesleyan

OWENSBORO, Ky. – LaGrange College finished its second season of football with a 35-21 loss to Kentucky Wesleyan at Robert "Bullet" Wilson Field on Saturday. The Panthers ended the season 0-10, while Kentucky Wesleyan upped its record to 3-7. LaGrange had a season-high 330 yards of total offense in the game. Quarterback Drew Carter threw for a season-high 227 yards and two touchdowns.

Panthers finish second season on the road at Kentucky Wesleyan

The Panthers close out their second season of football against the NCAA Division II Kentucky Wesleyan Panthers in Owensboro, Ky. Kentucky Wesleyan comes into the game with a 2-7 record after a 28-21 loss to Central State last week. Wesleyan was 0-10 last season. Wesleyan has defeated Kentucky Christian 47-0 and Lincoln (Mo.) 35-13 for its two wins this season. Wesleyan competes in the Great Lakes Football Conference.

Huntingdon College spoiled LaGrange College's 2007 Homecoming with a 43-0 win Saturday night at Callaway Stadium. The Hawks (4-4) limited the Panthers (0-9) to 161 yards of total offense, while rolling up 459 yards of offense.

Panthers take on Huntingdon for Homecoming

The Panthers host the Hawks of Huntingdon College in a match-up of NCAA Division III independents. This is the last season for both schools as independents, as they move to the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference next season as football-only members. The Hawks come into the game 3-4 after defeating cross-town rival Faulkner University 30-12 on Oct. 13 for their second straight win.

BREVARD, N.C. – Brevard College ran past LaGrange College 38-21 at Brevard Memorial Stadium on Saturday. The Tornados improved to 2-6 on the season, while the Panthers dropped to 0-8 on the season. Brevard rushed for 365 yards in the game. John Taylor rushed for a game-high 122 yards on 16 carries and a touchdown for the Tornados.

The Panthers travel to Brevard, N.C. to face NCAA Division II Brevard College. The Tornados, like the Panthers, are a second-year program. They come into the game with a 1-6 record. The Tornadoes fell to Tusculum 30-7 last week at Homecoming. The Tornados defeated Chowan 45-7 on Sept. 22 for their only win of the season.

Mississippi College comes to Callaway Stadium for the first time Saturday. The Choctaws are 4-1 overall and 3-1 in American Southwest Conference play. Mississippi is coming off a 42-34 road win over Louisiana College. The Choctaws are off to their first 4-1 start since the 1997 season, when they finished 8-2 and were the ASC champions. They started the season 3-0 for the second straight year.

The Panthers travel to St. Louis, Mo. to face the Bears of Washington University. The Bears come into the game with a 4-1 record, their best start since. 2001. Washington is coming off a 24-3 win over Rhodes at home last week. The Bears' lone loss was to No. 5 Wheaton. They defeated then No. 14 North Central 16-13, their first win over a ranked team since 2001.

Louisiana College took advantage of LaGrange College miscues in the fourth quarter to take a 30-17 win Saturday at Callaway Stadium. The Wildcats evened their season record at 2-2. The Panthers, in their second season of football, fell to 0-5 and still seeking their first ever win. Quarterback Ben McLaughlin threw for 315 yards and two touchdowns for Louisiana. Running back Bobby Rose added 100 yards rushing and two touchdowns. The Wildcats had 522 yards of total offense, while LaGrange had 229.

2007 schedule announced

Head Football Coach Todd Mooney released the 2007 LaGrange Panther Football schedule.   The Panthers open the season at home against Maryville  College on Sept.1  at 1:30 p.m. at Callaway Stadium.  Other highlights include a  Homecoming nighttime kickoff against Huntingdon College and a matchup against new opponent Kentucky Wesleyan to close out the regular season.
