Panther teams compete at Cougar Invitational

SMITHS STATION, Ala.- The LaGrange College cross country teams opened their 2006 season Friday at the Cougar Invitational hosted by Columbus State University. The meet featured Auburn University, Troy University, University of West Alabama, the Panthers and host Columbus State.

In the men's 5K run, Bill Simons led LaGrange with a time of 19:45.75. Following Simons was William Jordan, who had a time of 20:16.99. Rounding out the rest of the Panthers' times were Chuck Peek (21:10.20), Grant Kendall (21:11.12), Chris Mercado (23:01.32), Micah McFadden (25:15.79) and Chris Driggers (31:21.27).

On the women's side, Laura Dresdow led the Panthers with a time of 12:16.06 over the 3K course. Jessica Barba followed with a time of 12:28.62. The rest of the Panther times were: Lisa Heath (12:35.60), Brittany Otter (14:00.48), Heather Power (14:20.99) and Jackie Harris (15:05.85).
