Panther teams run at Oglethorpe Invitational Sept. 22, 2007
ATLANTA, Ga. - The LaGrange College cross country teams travelled to Oglethorpe University for their fourth meet of the season. LaGrange, Tennessee Wesleyan, Darton, Clark-Atlanta, Toccoa Falls, and host, Oglethorpe University made up the meet. Darton took both the men's and women's races. The Panther women placed third overall in the meet behind Tennessee Wesleyan.
The LaGrange women were led once again by Laura Dresdow, who finished sixth in the field of more than 40 competitors with a time of 23:07. Seniro captain Lisa Heath finished next for the women with a time of 24:32. Amanda Olsen and Jess Barba both improved on their times from last week finishing with respective times of 25:12 and 25:49. Rounding out the scoring for the Panthers were senior Brandi Black, who finished fifth for the team with a season best 27:09. Black was followed closely by sophmore Amara Hickson who came in at 28:06. Sadiria Harris joined the Panthers for her first meet of the season and finished with a time of 30:52.
The men finished behind host Oglethorpe for sixth place. William Jordan led the men with a time of 34:22 over the 8K course. He was followed by Bill Simons with a time of 34:43. Grant Kendall finished with 36:12, less than 10 seconds off of his season best time, set last week at Georgia State. Kendall was followed by Vince Thompson who finished the course in 37:06. Brian Farr, in his second race of the season, bettered his previous best with a time of 44:48.
The Panthers compete in the GSAC Pre-Conference meet in Dillard, Ga. next Saturday. The meet is hosted by Piedmont College and will give the Panthers their first look at the course where the conference championship meet will be held November 3.
