Panther teams run in Georgia State Invitational

The LaGrange College cross country teams competed in the Georgia State Invitational on Saturday. The women were 10th, while the men were ninth.

Laura Dresdow led the women for the sixth straight meet. The sophomore had a time of 23:44 for the 5K course. Jessica Barba followed with a time of 23:46. Rounding out the rest of times were: Lisa Heath (24:03), Katie Cummings (25:10), Heather Power (25:52), Leah Harrelson (26:18), Brandi Black (26:53), Amara Hickson (27:08) and Jacquie Harris (28:58).

For the men, William Jordan led the team with a time of 31:01 for the 8K course. Chuck Peek was next with a time of 31:31. The rest of the men's times were: Bill Simons (32:49), Grant Kendall (33:00), Stephen Szares (33:51), Michah McFadden (34:26) and Chris Mercado (34:56).

Both teams are off until Oct. 28 when they run in the Susan Komen Race for the Cure in Macon, Ga.
