Women finish third at GSAC Pre-Conference meet
Sept. 29, 2007

The Panther cross country teams participated in the GSAC Pre-Conference race hosted by Piedmont College in Dillard, Ga. on Saturday.   The course was located on the campus of the Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School, and consisted of a 6K course for the women and a 8K course for the men.  The field included four other GSAC schools: Agnes Scott, Maryville, Spellman and Piedmont. Guest Toccoa Falls rounded out the field.  The only GSAC school not present that will compete at the GSAC Championships on these same courses in November was Wesleyan College.

Coming off of a third place finish at Oglethorpe last weekend, the LaGrange women continued with their best season in recent years.  The Panthers edged out a strong Spellman team for third place, the first victory over the Jaguars in three seasons.  Laura Dresdow finished the course with a time of 30:11, earning her eighth place in the field of almost 40 women.  Lisa Heath and Amanda Olsen were the next two finishers for the Panthers, crossing the finish line at 32:06 and 32:34 respectively.  Brandi Kronberg finished with a season-best 34:33 over the 6K course. She was followed by Amara Hickson who had a time of 36:41.

The Panther men faced strong squads this weekend, finishing fourth at the meet behind Piedmont College. William Jordan and Bill Simons were the top two finishers for the men, finishing with times of 33:26 and 33:34 respectively.  Grant Kendall (35:16), Vince Thompson (36:36) and Brian Farr (42:38) completed the men's team scoring.

The Panthers teams will compete at the Mountain Top Classic, hosted by Covenant College in Lookout Mountain, Ga. on Saturday.
