LaGrange runs in Southeast Classic Oct. 25, 2008
ROME, Ga. - The Panther cross country team competed in the Southeast Cross Country Classic at Berry College on Saturday morning. Also present at the meet were several elite cross country schools such as Montreat College, Berry College, Lee University, Union University, and Shorter College. GSAC rival Maryville College was also present at the meet.
Five Panthers ran in the women's 5k race in a field of over 150 runners. Leading the way for the Panther women was senior and team captain Laura Driggers, finishing with a time of 23:31.10. This was a season-best time for Driggers. The next finisher for the Panthers was junior Amara Hickson with a time of 27:01.91, also a season-best. LaGrange's three first-year runners also had a good day at the meet. Megan Anderson finished in 27:54.30, Rachel Watson in 31:39.82, and Kelly Lane in 33:53.88. The Panthers finished 17th overall in team competition.
Two Panther men competed in the 8k competition. Junior Bill Simons completed the race with a season-best time of 30:56.54. Senior and team captain William Jordan finished in 32:45.52.
The Panthers will travel to Maryville, Tenn. on Nov. 1 to finish their season at the Great South Athletic Conference championships at Maryville College.
