Panthers top Rhodes in double overtime; 102-99

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – LaGrange College snapped a two-game losing streak with a 102-99 double-overtime win over Rhodes College on Monday at Mallory Gym.

The Panthers (3-8) put five players in double figures against the Lynx (5-3). Joe Cromwell led the Panthers with 28 points. Demetris Render had his second straight double-double. Render had 23 points and a game-high 14 rebounds. He is 14 points shy of tying Jeff Anderson for 10th on LaGrange's all-time scoring list. Caleb Smallwood had 13 points, Nic Whitfield had 12 and Bradley Floyd had 11.

Rhodes was led by Cory Smith's game-high 32 points. Jared Hoskins added 19 points. Justin Long had a team-high 11 rebounds for the Lynx.

The Panthers shot 45 percent in the game, including 6-of-13 3-pointers. The Panthers made 26-of-37 free throws. Both teams finished with 43 total rebounds.

The Panthers return home New Year's Day to face Hampden-Sydney. Game time is 2 p.m.
