Five Panthers earn GSAC season honors

Senior Demetris Render and junior Joe Cromwell were selected to the GSAC All-Conference team as announced by the conference office Tuesday. Nic Whitfield and Bradley Floyd were named to the GSAC All-Freshman team, while Cromwell and sophomore Britt Gaylor earned GSAC All-Academic honors.

Render is a four-year letterman as a post player for the Panthers. This season, he has started all 24 games for the Panthers. Render leads the team in scoring and rebounding. He has scored in double figures in all 24 games and has seven double-doubles this season. Render is averaging 21.3 points per game and 7.7 rebounds per game. He is second in the GSAC and 33rd in NCAA Division III in scoring. Render is third in the GSAC in rebounding. He had a career-high 45 points against Emory & Henry at the season-opening Coaches vs. Cancer Tournament. In that game, he made 20-of-23 shots from the field. Render has 1,544 career points and 533 career-rebounds. He is eighth on the Panthers' all-time career scoring list. Render is second on the Panthers' all-time free throws made list with 486. He needs one more field goal to be 10th on the Panthers' all-time career list.

Cromwell was second on the team and fifth in the GSAC in scoring, averaging 15.0 points per game. He was second on the team and fourth in the GSAC in rebounding, averaging 5.5 per game. Cromwell had a season-high 32 points against Emory. In that game, he made 15-of-18 shots from the floor. He had a season-high 13 rebounds against Covenant. Cromwell led the team and was second in the GSAC with 25 blocks.

 

Whitfield appeared in all 24 games this season with one start. He averaged 9.8 points and 4.9 rebounds per game. In GSAC games, Whitfield averaged 15.3 points and 6.7 rebounds per game. He had a season-high 23 points and three blocked shots in the final regular season game against Huntingdon. Whitfield had a season-high nine rebounds in three games.

Floyd appeared in 23 games with 11 starts. He average 2.8 points and 1.2 rebounds per game. Floyd was fourth on the team with 41 assists. He had a season-high 11 points against Rhodes, making 2-of-3 from the floor and all six of his free throws. Floyd had a season-high five assists in two games.
