Sims heads GSAC baseball award winners

LaGrange senior outfielder Michael Sims is the 2008 Great South Athletic Conference Player of the Year. Sims received the award during ceremonies at the GSAC Championship Tournament held at Cleaveland Field last weekend. Seniors Cory Matticola and Seth Tucker along with junior Patrick Langley joined Sims on the GSAC All-Conference team.

Piedmont comes back to claim GSAC Championship Tournament

Piedmont came from behind twice to defeat LaGrange 12-9 in the deciding game of the GSAC Championship Tournament on Sunday at Cleaveland Field. The top-seeded and 11th-ranked Lions (33-10) had forced the final game with a 9-7 win over the Panthers in the day's first game.

Panthers reach GSAC championship with 6-5 win over Piedmont

LaGrange advanced to the championship game of the GSAC Championship Tournament with a 6-5 win over 11th-ranked Piedmont on Saturday at Cleaveland Field. The win was the second straight in the tournament and fourth overall for the Panthers, now 25-17. The Lions, the GSAC regular season champ and the tournament's top seed dropped to 30-10.

Panthers come from behind to down Huntingdon in GSAC tournament

Cory Matticola had five hits and five RBIs as the Panthers came from behind to beat Huntingdon 17-9 at Cleaveland Field in the GSAC Championship tournament. The Panthers play Piedmont at 3 p.m. Saturday.
