Athletics are an important part of the LaGrange experience. The College currently features 15 intercollegiate sports (8 for men, 7 for women) Football was added beginning in the fall of 2006. The school also has a host of intramural activities. Among the best in the region, our athletic facilities include a $2 million baseball stadium, a natatorium and a new softball complex.
Over one-third of on-campus students participate in athletics at LaGrange, which is a member of the NCAA Division III and the Great South Athletic Conference.
During the 2006-07 school year, LaGrange athletic teams competed for conference and national recognition. In the GSAC, the LaGrange softball team won the conference tournament championship and an automatic berth in the NCAA national tournament. It was the first ever NCAA invitation earned by a women's team at LaGrange. The men's basketball team finished 18-9 and runner-up in the GSAC championship tournament. It was the best record for the Panthers since 1993. The baseball team also was runner-up in its GSAC championship tournament. Junior Michael Sims earned All-Region and All-American awards in baseball. LaGrange athletic teams earned 23 GSAC all-conference selections. The golf team received its second invitation to the NCAA national tournament, with freshman Bo Tiller earning All-American status.
