Athletics are an important part of the LaGrange experience. The College currently features 15 intercollegiate sports (8 for men, 7 for women) Football was added beginning in the fall of 2006. The school also has a host of intramural activities. Among the best in the region, our athletic facilities include a $2 million baseball stadium, a natatorium and a new softball complex.

Over one-third of on-campus students participate in athletics at LaGrange, which is a member of the NCAA Division III and the Great South Athletic Conference.

During the 2008-09 school year, LaGrange athletic teams competed for conference and national recognition with a record three teams earning NCAA tournament bids. The football team completed the most improved turnaround in NCAA Division III history by finishing 9-2, winning the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and receiving an at-large bid to the NCAA national playoffs. The golf and softball teams both earned NCAA bids to their respective national tournaments for the third straight year. The golf team finished 18th at the NCAA Division III Golf National Championship, the best NCAA finish for the team. In addition to earning a third straight NCAA bid, the softball team won its third straight GSAC tournament title and tied for the regular season title. The Panthers had both of the GSAC co-Players of the Year in junior Holly Hazelwood and sophomore Katie Ison, along with the GSAC Pitcher of the Year in sophomore Katie Hein. LaGrange athletes earned 18 GSAC all-conference selections.
