Financial Aid Programs
LaGrange College awards over $22 million dollars in total financial aid annually with more than thirty percent awarded from institutional funds.  We offer a variety of federal, state, institutional, and private need-based and non-need-based grants, scholarships, loans, and student employment programs to narrow the gap between what the student and his family can contribute and the actual cost of attending LaGrange College. In fact, nine out of ten LaGrange College students receive some form of financial assistance. Types of Aid Grants   are generally awarded on the basis of financial need rather than merit and do not require repayment.  Additional application materials may be required. 

Scholarships are often performance-based, in categories like academics and community service.  Scholarships do not require repayment, but applications may have specific criteria and deadlines. 

Though they do require repayment, loans can be a key option.  The federal government offers a range of low-interest loans (with features like interest-only payments) to both students and parents.  Some loans can be forgiven through service as a teacher or nurse. 

Federal Work-Study provides employment opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students with demonstrated financial need to defray educational expenses. Jobs are available on campus and off campus in community service organizations. Students are paid at least the federal minimum wage and are paid monthly.

LaGrange College Work Aid is an institutional employment program that provides students with opportunities to earn additional money for school through employment in on-campus departments and off campus in community service activities. Although a non-need-based program, first priority is given to students with financial need. Students are paid at least the federal minimum wage and are paid monthly. 

Payment Plans allow families to create a customized payment schedule for tuition, room and board.  Options include monthly increments and extended payments.  An annual fee will be charged.

Apply Early
To keep it quick and easy, apply online. High school students interested in academic scholarships should apply by January 1 of their senior year.

Fill out the FAFSA
Federal student financial aid may be available to you, but you won't know until you fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), available at www.fafsa.ed.gov .  Your eligibility is calculated by taking the cost of attending a particular college minus the expected family contribution (EFC).

Your EFC is determined by your financial circumstances and how they compare to others applying for aid.
