Composition and Music Technologies
LaGrange College's B. M. degree in Composition & Music Technologies takes
each composition student through a complete process of writing for all of the orchestral
families of instruments, chamber orchestra, solo voice and art song, with various
rehearsal and recording sessions each semester. Over the course of the four year
degree a composition student will have written at least one or more work for wind
quintet, string quartet, brass quintet, percussion ensemble, solo voice art song,
and chamber orchestra. These works are rehearsed and recorded for each composition
student in our Callaway Auditorium concert hall with a professional engineer.

Music in Performance
(Voice, Piano, Organ, Guitar, Percussion)
This program of study is designed for students seeking careers as professional
classical performers and/or studio teachers. Students admitted to this program
of study must possess exceptional talent in their principal applied area, and instrumental
and keyboard majors must demonstrate previous training. The curriculum couples
rigorous scholarship with numerous performance opportunities, including partnerships
with the LaGrange Symphony Orchestra Symphony Chorus, the LaGrange College Department
of Theater Arts, and other on and off campus musical and cultural activities. This
degree adequately prepares students for graduate study in performance.
Bachelor of Arts in Music
The B.A. in Music is a scholarly degree for those pursuing a broad, liberal arts-based
music education. The capstone presentation should be a senior-level investigation
of a topic approved by the music faculty. The student is encouraged to choose a
complementary minor area of study.

The music minor provides a general exposure to music history, literature, theory,
and performance studies.
