Patricia Callaway
Adjunct Instructor of voice Diction

Pat Callaway teaches voice and music history at LaGrange College. She is a soprano with careers in both performance and music business. Her B.A. from Emory University was granted in 1972, and her M.M. from West Georgia College in1984. She completed her D.M.A. in Vocal Performance at the University of Georgia in 2001, where the title of her document was “A Study of Computer Generated Spectrographic Analysis with Young Female Voices in the College Voice Teaching Studio".

As a singer she has performed ten solo recitals, soloed in forty-three oratorios, and performed seventeen leading operatic roles as well as numerous other concerts all mostly in the Southeast. Being a dramatic coloratura has given her the chance to explore a large portion of the repertory from Dowland, Bach, and Mozart to Bartok, Szymanowski, and Berg. With George Mann she has performed most of the Schumann song cycles, Myrthen being the most recent addition. She has maintained a private studio for thirty years. Before coming to LaGrange she taught two years at Piedmont College and eight years at Brenau University, where she directed the opera program and facilitated the 2002 North Georgia Arts Medicine Workshop.

Her music business career includes eight years with the Atlanta Symphony (1973-1980) and ten years as the General Manager of Singers Resource Service, a non-profit arts organization for singers in the Southeast (1984-1993). Currently she serves as the Education Chair for the Georgia Chapter of the National Association of Teachers of Singing and is a member of GMEA and the College Music Society. She is married to a baritone and has two children - a tenor and an alto - enabling occasional family quartets. For the past fifteen years her main volunteer activities have been PTA, church committees, and leading an extraordinary Girl Scout troop.
