Ashley Hawkins
Instructor, Staff Accompanist

Ashley Susan Hawkins, a native of LaGrange, is in her second year as staff accompanist at LaGrange College. She holds a bachelor’s degree in music education with an emphasis in piano from Columbus State University, Columbus, Georgia where she studied piano and collaborative arts from Dr. Betty Anne Diaz and Mikhail Yanovitsky. While in college Ashley studied piano and accompanying under the direction of Paul Posnak and George Kern in Salzburg, Austria where she studied for a summer term.

In addition to her work at LaGrange College, Ashley also serves as accompanist and choir manager for the Young Singers of LaGrange Choir School and has a private piano studio, which consists of 25 students. Ashley has served as pianist in several productions for the LaGrange Opera Theatre including Side by Side, Gondoliers, Sweet Betsy from Pike, and A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum. She has accompanied many statewide and district honor choirs and has performed with numerous high schools and colleges in the surrounding areas including Columbus State University and the University of West Georgia. She has also served as accompanist for the Columbus Boy Choir and for several productions at the renowned Springer Opera House, both in Columbus, Georgia.

Ashley formerly held the positions of Organist and Choir Director at First United Methodist Church in Pine Mountain, Georgia as a college student. Upon completing her degree, she taught in the Newnan City School System as music specialist at Arbor Springs Elementary School and as assistant band director for Northgate High School. She is a six-year percussion member of the LaGrange Symphony Orchestra and has served as a percussion clinician in the Atlanta area. Her most recent accolade is from the LaGrange Symphony Orchestra as they have established the Ashley Hawkins Piano Scholarship for the SCALA Competition in her honor.
