National History Day in the Classroom – Workshop for Teachers

Hosted by LaGrange College, and part of the GHC/LC NHD mentoring and outreach partnership, this workshop will focus on implementing National History Day in the classroom—from topic selection and research, to project development and presentation. Under the leadership of Tim Hoogland and Sarah Aschbrenner of National History Day Minnesota, along with LaGrange College history faculty and Lewis Library staff, teachers will learn many tips and engage in hands-on practice with the goal of strengthening their work with student researchers in the classroom. The workshop will introduce participants to all NHD presentation categories with an emphasis upon documentary production. This workshop is open to 25 teachers.
Registration: Teachers may register as either Residential or commuter.
- Residential Fee: $85– Fee includes training, activities, resources and most meals. Participant housing will be located in the Servant Scholars Dorm (also known as Broad Street Apartments, LaGrange College’s finest residence facility). Please note that on campus housing is limited and will be assigned first come/first served basis.
- Commuter Fee: $50– Fee includes training, activities, resources and most meals
