The Art and Design, Art History/Museum Studies Department at LaGrange College is committed to education in the visual arts that will enable students to become leaders in the creation and awareness of a new environment. It is universally understood that excellence in life includes an appreciation of the arts, an ability to make aesthetic judgment, and a spiritual inquiry. We believe the visual arts are necessary to the growth and well being of a purposeful society. Our mission is to provide a technical education of the artist, to provide a nurturing environment to instill an appreciation of the visual arts, and to present the very best in the visual arts to the community through exhibitions, lectures, and workshops held at the Lamar Dodd Art Center.
